1.5.2 Water quality

Summary

This product identifies known sources of data and information on the quality of surface water and groundwater resources within the Arckaringa subregion, and outlines some key references. Most information available on surface water quality relates to some near-permanent waterholes, which vary in salinity from fresh to hypersaline.

In the Arckaringa subregion, the freshest groundwater resources generally occur in aquifers of the Great Artesian Basin (GAB). In most areas within the subregion, groundwater salinity in these GAB aquifers is less than 5000 mg/L total dissolved solids (TDS).
